Release 1.2.3 includes the following changes:

Overview

This is a kernel update release with significant code refactoring to simplify application of patches to the stock CentOS 6.x and LTS kernels as listed on https://www.kernel.org/, along with numerous bug fixes.
This release also officially brings support for BYOK (Build Your Own Kernel). Documentation regarding how to utilize this process is available at http://www.betterlinux.com/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=104.

Kernel

Latest CentOS 6.6 kernel 2.6.32-504.3.3.el6.

CloakFS

Non-exception based SUID programs are blocked by default.
Cpanel users are unable to see other Cpanel users when analyzing /etc/passwd.

MySQL

No changes.

CPUD

free_mem_jail_off_threshold/free_mem_jail_on_threshold no longer utilizes cache=#

The value mem_free is evaluated as following:
free pages + file cached pages + slab reclaimable memory

NOTE: this is how the kernel (starting from 3.16) evaluates the value
MemAvailable reported in /proc/meminfo (see fs/proc/meminfo.c).

guarantee_cpu can be used with a single core server. start/stop_throttling still requires 4+ cores.

IOTHROTTLED

No changes.

Apache

No changes.


Upgrading BetterLinux:

Run this:

yum --disableexcludes=all upgrade betterlinux\*

Then reboot your system.
